As a performing artist, Gwendy Joysen is focused on three goals: diversity, entertainment, and elevation. All of which she seamlessly accomplishes through pure self-expression. More than just an amazing singer, her guitar work and physical expression on stage, as well as her intense connection with the music and musicians, allow her to deliver a show with powerful punch. In her left-of-center, soul-gripping performances, she takes you on a journey from groove to ballad to rocker, bringing together a variety of styles in a refreshingly unique way while holding you close with subtle familiarity, all the while leaving her audience energized and inspired.
Gwendy Joysen is a vocalist beyond category who delivers her powerful lyrics with heart-stopping vocals. She has shared the stage with numerous, talented artists and speakers. In February 2008 Gwendy opens for the great Patty Larkin at The Rialto in Colorado. Recently, Gwendy opened for Best Selling Author Gary Zukav in Kansas City, MO, and prior to that, she opened for Best Selling Author Marianne Williamson in Los Angeles in support of the creation of the Department of Peace. During her career, she has sung with greats like Rosemary Butler (long time background vocalist for James Taylor), and Grammy Award winning saxophonist Jeff Coffin who also appears on her first CD, “…and miles to go.” Rich Aspinwall, who has worked with countless acts such as Garth Brooks, Indigo Girls, & Emmy Lou Harris, took a special interest in Gwendy’s talents, producing cuts on two of her currently available CD’s and lending his remarkable mixing talents on her upcoming CD “Love Is Stronger.” Her identifiable voice is powerful, passionate and memorable. Gwendy’s overall goal is to use the depth of her music and the soulfulness of her voice to move people to action, whether it is to make a change in the world or just love one another more fully.
Gwendy began performing as a teenager, playing mostly acoustic sets and later shifting into alternative pop rock. Her songwriting started even earlier, at the tender age of nine. She has performed frequently at Nashville hot spots like The Bluebird Cafe and 12th and Porter. She independently made her way across the country in coffee houses, clubs and house parties. Both powerful and provocative, Gwendy's emotive voice has always been the focal point. "Her voice is chilling and warm simultaneously!" Gwendy's music is consistently gripping and ever evolving.
